 A Prime Minister is appointed by the President of India.The Prime Minister and his council of Ministers must be sworn within 6 months of their appointment.He is the head of the government and leads the executive branch of the Indian Government. He allocates portfolios and coordinates work among the various ministers and departments through the Cabinet Secretariat. 'Panchavati' is the official residence of PM. The Prime Minister plays a major role in directing India’s foreign policy.
