Homemade hair oil for a healthy hair

I don't oil my hair regularly and don't follow the hair care routine. During this lockdown period, I had some time to take care of myself.

Since I am in my native (south of Tamil Nadu, India) during this lockdown period, I started using home made herbal hair oil. I have been seen the difference and the hair fall is reduced subsequently. I am happy to see the less few hair strands in the comb.

How to make homemade hair oil for hair growth
The homemade herbal hair oil contains easily available natural herbs which make the hair healthy and promotes hair growth. Now, let us see the ingredients used, the procedure to make the hair oil and how to use it.
Ingredients Used
Coconut oil - 1 liter
Hibiscus leaves - 2 handful
Hibiscus flower - 2 handful or 10-12 flowers
Henna leaves - 1 handful
Neem leaves - 5 to 7 leaves
Bringaraj leaves - 1 handful

Curry leaves - 2 handful
Aloe vera gel - 2 tsp
Amla - 10 to 12 nos
Shallots - 10 to 12 nos
Pepper - 1/2 tsp
Fenugreek - 2 tsp
Ajwain/ carom seeds - 1 tsp
Kalonji seed - 1 1/2 tsp
Cloves - 5 nos
How To prepare the homemade hair oil
1. Wash all the leaves such as hibiscus flower, hibiscus leaves, neem leaves, Bringaraj leaves, curry leaves and make them dry. Don't sundry the ingredients instead dry all the ingredients at room temperature.
2. Put all the dried leaves and flowers into the blender and grind them nicely to get the powdered herbs.

3.Take the aloe vera and cut it to extract the aloe vera gel from it.

4.Peel the shallots (small onions) and cut them into pieces. Grind it along with the aloe vera gel and powdered herbs in the blender

5. Boil the 1 liter of coconut oil in the pan and add the fenugreek seeds, ajwain seeds, peppercorns, kalonji, cloves. Let them fry in the oil for 5 minutes.

6.Now add the ground ingredients paste into the pan.

7. Keep the flame in medium and stir the oil occasionally.
8. The whole process takes around 30 to 40 minutes. You get a good aroma once the oil ready.
9. Switch off the flame in 30 to 40 minutes and cool it at room temperature.
10. Once the oil gets cooled, use the strainer to strain it and store the oil in the container. Now the hair oil is ready.

9. The fenugreek seeds have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It treats the dry scalp, dandruff and acts as a natural conditioner to the hair.
10. The peppercorns are rich in vitamin C. It helps to clean the scalp and prevents dandruff. It also used in this homemade oil preparation to avoid the cold and sinusitis problem.
11. The ajwain or carom seeds, cloves, and peppercorns are used mainly to avoid the cold problem and sinusitis problem. Despite used for treating the cold, it also used to make the hair healthy.

How to apply the hair oil
- Apply the oil onto your scalp and massage gently with your fingertips
- Massage the scalp in the clockwise and anti-clockwise direction. It helps in blood circulation
- Always apply the hair oil before your head bath. Wash your hair with a mild shampoo
- It is recommended to apply less oil or no need to apply the oil after the hair bath.
