Gooseberry/Amla/ Nellikai fruit has great medical benefits. There were two gooseberry plants in my home. My mother always used to make nellikai/amla pickle, amla powder, and amla candy.
I personally do not like the taste of amla fruit. So, my mother preparer amla juice for me. After this COVID-19 situation, I started to take the amla juice weekly twice.
As many doctors advise including amla in the daily diet. If you do not like to have amla as fruit like me, then you have it as a juice. The vitamin c content of one Gooseberry fruit is equal to two oranges. The amla berry has a high level of vitamin C. The daily intake of amla helps to reduce the glucose level.
So, the diabetic patient can include in their daily diet. You can also prepare amla powder and you can consume it by mixing it in warm water. The amla is also used in homemade hair oil to control hair loss. Amla juice helps to control hair loss.
Some people take amla juice for weight loss. It also acts as the best detoxing juice. The amla miracle juice acts as one solution to many health issues.

How to make amla juice at home
It is quite easy to prepare Indian Gooseberry juice. There are many
ways of preparing this juice. My mother and mother-in-law both have different
versions of amla sarbath. I love both the version of gooseberry juice.
Version 1 of Nellikai juice/Amla Cucumber juice
Ingredients Required:
Amla/Gooseberry/Nellikai – 3 nos
Cucumber – 1 Nos (medium size)
Ginger – a small piece (1 – 11/2 tsp of chopped ginger)
Honey – 1 -2 tsp (According to your taste)
Water – 1 liter

Method:
- .Peel the skin of cucumber and ginger and cut
into the small pieces

- Cut the amla into small pieces and discard the
seeds.
- Add the cucumber, ginger, amla, and little water
and grind it nicely.

- Now, add the remaining amount of water and run
the mixer in pulse mode so that it mixes up well.

- Now extract the juice using the extractor
and add the honey to it. If you don’t have honey, then you can add palm sugar
or palm candy.

Version 2 of Amla/Gooseberry/Nellikai juice
This is another version of gooseberry juice. The above amla juice preparation is sweet in taste. And, this way of Gooseberry juice preparation is a little bit salty in taste. You can easily prepare this healthy nellikai juice at home.
Ingredients Required:
Amla/Gooseberry/Nellikai – 2 nos
Lemon Juice– 3 to 4 drops
Salt – a pinch
Water – 400 ml (2 glasses of water)
Method:
- Cut the amla into small pieces and discard the
seeds.
- Add the amla and little water and grind it
nicely.
- Now, add the remaining amount of water and run
the mixer in pulse mode so that it mixes up well
- Now extract the amla juice using the filter and
add the salt to it.
- Your healthy amla juice is ready now.
Key points
- The ratio of amla and water is 1:200ml. You can
add 200 ml of water to extract the juice of 1 amla. Since it has a high level of acid
content, consuming 1 amla per day is more than enough.
- Amla juice contains a high level of vitamin C
content.
- Amla juice is also known as hair growth
juice, diabetic juice, and weight loss juice.
- The tiny super amla fruit also helps in
digestion problems.
- You can also prepare amla rice if your kids don’t
take it in the juice form.
When to avoid intake of Amla Juice
If you are pregnant women or lactating women then kindly consult with your health practitioner before having this juice. Because the intake of this gooseberry juice might cause stomach upset problems in pregnant women. So, kindly avoid it.
Some people are allergic to Vitamin C content. They might get acne or pimples on their face due to their intake of Vitamin C fruit. So, If you are allergic to Vitamin C then reduce the intake of amla juice or avoid it completely. Since this fruit has greater medical benefits, you can have it occasionally.
If you have any kidney disease, then kindly consult your medical practitioner before having this juice.
