Coconut oil for the face

Coconut oil is of two types. They are copra oil and virgin coconut oil. The Virgin coconut oil is used for the skincare routine. The coconut oil has lauric acid and fatty acid content. The lauric acid content is found in most skincare products. The lauric acid content is naturally found in coconut.


The skincare routine must include face oils. It makes our skin soft and shiny. The face oil helps to keep your skin moisturized and healthy. There is face oil for every skin type. So, you must choose the right face oil for your skin type. The wrong selection of face oil leads to a breakout on the skin.

Is coconut oil good for the face?


Is coconut oil good for the face?  Obviously! Coconut oil is good for the face of skin type normal to dry skin. The coconut oil is heavy in density. So, applying coconut oil on the face does not work well for oily skin types. The oily skin type person can use coconut oil for the face at night. The oily skin types people can choose lightweight face oil. They can use castor oil, watermelon seed oil, raspberry seed oil, and olive oil.

The correct way to apply coconut oil on the face

·       Clean your face with a cleanser or soap or face wash.

·       Do not dry your face

·       Apply the aloe vera gel or 2 to 3 drops of honey on your face.

·       It is advisable to apply aloe vera gel / 2 to 3 drops of honey on your wet face before applying the face oil. The honey/ aloe vera gel act as a humectant. Oil does not hydrate your skin. Humectants hydrate your skin and act as a base for the oil application. This avoids acne problems.

·       Do not dry your face. Apply the coconut oil on the wet face. Putting the coconut oil on the dry face leads to skin breakouts.

·       Use only 2 to 3 drops of coconut oil on your face. The 2 to 3 drops of face oil are more than enough to cover your face. More usage of oil leads to acne problems.

How to choose the face oil based on skin type

Coconut oil does not suit all skin types. The coconut oil is heavier in density. So, it suits well extreme dry skin types. If you are oily to combination skin, then try light density oil such as watermelon seed oil, raspberry oil, and grapeseed oil. Do not use almond oil, coconut oil, avocado oil for oily skin types. It might cause skin breakouts and clogged pores.

Can you apply coconut oil to your face at night?

Yes! You can apply and massage your face with coconut oil at night. Applying the oil on your face at night helps in skin rejuvenating and anti-aging. It also helps to treat insomnia problems.

 If your dry skin, then it is advisable to put the coconut oil twice a day. If you are oily skin, you can apply the oil at night.
